You need to buy these bagels (at least once) to truly understand what a bagel should taste like. Those soft, tasteless, underdone, round pieces of bread with a hole in the middle that are sold in Tokyo subway stations are NOT bagels. Yes! Accept the price at least once to experience the chewy texture and the incredible flavor of a true New York bagel. You will never be able to eat those subway imposters again. Take it from a New Yorker -- these are as close as you will come to the real, genuine item.
When I think of Everything bagels, THIS is what I want! It's not heavy on any individual topping and the bagel is so soft and chewy! It's not dry and that's a big point for good bagels. I buy and freeze them for a nice lazy morning snack on weekends. I've missed good Everything bagels after living in Japan for 10 years, where just plain bagels are hard to find with my rural life. CostcoJP did well up till now but they're so dense and dry that I can't imagine buying anything but these NY Basco ones. I've bought them twice, now that I know they're well made and the Everything topping I like, and I look forward to eating them each time. Highly recommended!
I have tried various bagels here in Japan, but these are the best tasting. There is a shipping charge of 770 yen, but it is the same whether you buy 1 package or 4 packages, so it is better to order more and bring the overall cost down.
